Maine was by far my favorite place to vacation as a kid. Daytime hikes, lake swimming, lobster boils and braving the freezing Atlantic were totally my thing when I was six. Some things never change. Well, except maybe that now I have trouble putting more than a toe into the ocean up there. This summer I got sent to Maine twice for assignments and the first one, for Afar Magazine, has hit the stands! I was lucky enough to spend a couple of days with Annemarie Ahearn and Ladleah Dunn of Salt Water Farm and it was one of the highlights of my summer. We had a great shoot and what preceded it was one of those nights that make me love love love my job. Annemarie graciously invited us to a dinner with friends (intelligent back-to-the-landers, talented Maine chefs, Sam Calagione of Dogfish Head Brewery) for a super fresh and delicious outdoor meal accompanied by amazing conversations and a proper amount of debauchery. Many thanks to my new friends, to Afar for being one of the only magazines I know that would publish a full page image of someone breaking down a whole raw chicken, and in advance to Dogfish Head for their forthcoming gluten-free beer!
